Rex Orange County

How wonderful: yet another very young Englishman creating a mature genre mix without giving a damn about genre conventions. Whether it’s about fashion or music, Alex O’Connor a.k.a. Rex Orange County does his own thing. At the age of 16, he was accepted at the London-based music college The Brit School and started to write his own music. Without label or management backup, he gathered a solid UK fanbase over the years. By now, the singer-songwriter has undoubtedly become the darling of the music press, which doesn’t surprise us at all. After all, the world needs more multi-instrumentalists like him who seem to exude this fluffy lo-fi sound somewhere between contemporary jazz, R&B and electronically enthused pop. Not only Tyler, The Creator is a fan but BadBadNotGood as well. And so are we!
