He welcomes sound errors; detours are a sign of character. Whereas many of us try to avoid chaos, Sascha Ring a.k.a. Apparat finds grace and motivation within, whether he’s working on music for theatre plays, collaborating with Modeselektor under the guise of Moderat, or whether he’s DJing and performing solo. Apparat’s roots may lie in Berlin’s techno scene of the 1990s (as his debut album »Multifunktionsebene« proclaims loud and clearly), yet his minimalistic techno sketches soon made way for more glitch-y ambient soundscapes; a perfect development that made one thing clear: it doesn’t matter what Apparat might try next because his sensitivity will always evoke those pleasant emotions that’ll lure us into a seductively enigmatic limbo full of dreams and dancing.
