Since the start of the 1990s, Michel Amato aka The Hacker has been one of the French electro scene’s most stylish, but also most discreet, figures. This pioneering artist, passionate about avant-garde techno, has weaved his influences into a unique sound that can best be described as a walking homage to the power of the synthesizer. One minute, as a solo artist, he is the past-master of cold, calculating and relentless techno.
Yet the next, when he teams up with Miss Kittin, he is leading the charge for the electroclash movement, effortlessly channeling the carefree spirit of New Wave. Following a stack load of singles released on labels such as Bordello a Parigi, Stilleben, Infiné or Correspondant, cuts made with Miss Kittin in 2016 and countless remixes for major acts such as Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode), Dave Clarke or Boys Noize. The Hacker is back in 2018 with his new live project which sees the enigmatic artist go back to his roots, performing a 100% analog set directly inspired by his first true loves of New Wave and dark, powerful Techno and EBM.
