Remember the good old days when Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All stirred up the hip hop scene with juvenile boorishness? This was five years ago already. In the meantime, the gang fronted by Frank Ocean and, of course, Tyler, The Creator are a little more grown-up and calmer, but most importantly: they now spread their incredible creativity across all the groove-centric music genres on the spectrum. Just like Kendrick Lamar, Tyler in particular coins the scene with his current and best solo album “Flower Boy”. It’s a great achievement to free rap from its restless efforts of following fashion trends, giving it back an inspiring artistic core. So, when faced with such incredible art, it’s excusable that he dialled it down an notch and won’t stage dive during his performance at Melt.
