It doesn’t really speak for our society, or humankind in general, that the China-born DJ, singer and producer Steven Zhu spent the beginning of his career in anonymity in fear of being confronted with racist prejudices. Of course, this wasn’t the only reason. He simply wanted his music to speak for itself. Still, it influenced his decision making. Since he has released killer tracks such as “Faded”, “Automatic” and his debut album’s title track “Generationwhy”, hardly anyone doubts that Zhu is one of the most exciting dance and electro artists. With his single “Blame”, he has proven it again – not that he ever had to. Producer Ekali took over the sound arrangements this time while Zhu provided his unique falsetto vocals. At Melt, Zhu will, once more, showcase his full range of skills on stage and take on the night – whether it’s with thumping beats or softly whispered vocals.
